After I read all the childbirth methods, I would like to comment on the unmedicated birth in the hospital. I selected this method because babies born without medical intervention often have fewer issues with their respiratory systems. Other advantages of natural childbirth include a speedier recovery for the woman and the avoidance of abdominal surgery and the hazards that come along with it, which are connected with having a cesarean section. Taking a class as parents-to-be helps a couple’s relationship by building communication skills and self-confidence for birth and parenting. However, I noticed that more expectant parents choose not to attend childbirth classes because they are busy at work and do not have time to manage between work and school. Some read the information on childbirth in classes and on the internet.

2. This method is focused on “prenatal nutrition & exercise, relaxation for easier birth, having the husbands be coaches, and documenting a birth plan”. It focuses heavily on the non-pregnant partner being the birthing coach. This method suggests a natural childbirth, and using your emotions and partners connection in order to concentrate on finishing your labor. Towards the end of classes, you are also informed on newborn care, parenting, how to handle a crying baby, and nutrition, amongst other similar post-labor topics. This is a 12 week course that both partners take in the last trimester of the pregnant-persons pregnancy. The Bradley Method’s website claims that 12 weeks worth of classes is the sweet spot to more successful non-medicated births, but when they have tried shorter periods of class time with the same information, more of the pregnancies resulted in medicated labors. To end on a cute note, they suggest all of their clients have a “Happy Birth-day”!
